Review by hotel critic
Staying at Riad Assou was a delightful dive into the heart of Marrakech’s vibrant culture. The location is impeccable, just a short 10-minute stroll from the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square, surrounded by local shops where bargains await savvy travelers. The charm of traditional Moroccan architecture really shines through in the lovely tile work and peaceful courtyard, making it an oasis amidst the chaos of the city. Breakfast was an absolute highlight, featuring a generous spread that included fresh breads, delectable jams, and, my personal favorite, eggs with cumin. I enjoyed it while soaking up the serene atmosphere with friends, who were equally enamored by our generous host's warmth and eagerness to help. The rooms were comfortable and equipped with private bathrooms—though the curtain concept took a bit of getting used to! Aziz and the staff were the real stars here, ensuring we felt like beloved guests rather than mere clients. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly yet memorable experience, Riad Assou is a gem that shouldn’t be missed. I can’t wait to return!
